This is an ancient, traditional tea, hailing from the region that some believe is the very birthplace of tea. No, not your grandma's kitchen in 1940s London, but China's remote and enchanting Yunnan Province. Mellow-sweet Yunnan Puerh tea yields reddish liquor and an earthy aroma that sends your senses on a trip to dense forests who-knows-where.
To make like the pioneering tea traders of rural China, you first need to get your hands on this loose-leaf Puerh tea. Go authentic and brew it in a little rustic pot (how cute!) or grab your trusty mug and a packet of bourbons if that's more your thing.

per person/250ml cup:
10 - 20 seconds
Add one heaped teaspoon of tea per person in a teapot or mug Infuser and add freshly boiled water. Leave for 10 secs to rinse the tea, then discard the water. Pour on more water, steep for 10-20 secs and serve without milk. The leaves can be re-used several times – perhaps as many as 10 times, reducing the steeping time for each infusion.
Alternatively, you can treat Pu-erh like a strong blend and brew for a much longer time, say 5 mins or even longer. Please be aware that this would be strongly disapproved of in China! This brewing method produces a much stronger brew which some Westerners prefer a,d you can re-steep the leaves up to twice more.
